End of Semester Reflections
General/ All courses
1. Now compared to the end of the previous academic year I feel I am better at managing
time, there is still work to be done and I can improve but compared to my last semester I
have gotten better by specifically cutting out time to do assignments or study. These
improvements were made possible by me being more aware of what is needed to get
done.
2. For this past academic year I am most proud of coming back to school to finish my
degree after taking a couple of years off. This makes me proud because it means I am
one step closer to achieving my goals and becoming a professional.
3. This past semester I am grateful to have had such good professors which made my
experience and time spent in classes easier and more enjoyable. Tools that were used
were actually tips and frameworks professors uploaded online for us to utilize, that
greatly impacted me in the way I was able to complete assignments. Other supports
were just people in general including family and friends usually morally and sometimes
even physically offering help with assignments and research.
4. This past semester what did not go well for me was me missing a bunch of homework
and assignments due to me being undiligent and ignorant of due dates resulting in me
missing them and points that could’ve easily been obtained. It made this experience
challenging because if I paid more attention and actually spent time completing what
needed to be done I would be in a better place academically.
5. Insight that I gained about mitigating my needs for challenges is to just show up and stop
procrastinating while I have assignments that need to be completed. The way I can fulfill
these needs is to carve out time in my schedule so that I physically spend time either at
home or in the library for my schoolwork.
6. What I learned from overcoming challenges is that if I start a reasonable amount of time
before due dates and break up work into smaller sections it is possible to get things
done, the hardest part literally is just getting started. I’ll remember what I learned by
looking at the grades I received this semester to know what I did wrong and right.
7. The happiest I felt this semester is the moment after I submitted assignments or papers
on time and especially when I would look at the grades after to see I received a high
score. To experience those type of moments more frequently I just need to submit
things on time.
8. Moments that I am proud of are me pushing through of continuing to complete
assignments when I can in those moments when I could’ve done like in the past and
procrastinate and fully miss deadlines.
9. In my psychology of student success course there was plenty of new things that I learned
and many things that I wasn’t able to put into words that helped me put down to paper,
materialize and think about like self awareness, setting more specific and concrete goals.
Short/ Course Specific
1. My understanding of the scientific writing process changed from before in the way that
now by taking my time and dissecting the work I can more effectively write scientific
papers.
2. I believe scientists primary responsibilities are effectively following the scientific method
and processes when conducting experiments so that a true outcome is made,
showcasing to the public if a test or study is valid. I think the same applies from scientists
to fellow scientists so that true unbiased results are disclosed.
3. My experience with the PSA project was favorable, because with our group we were
able to choose a topic that we were actually interested in, researching and making the
PSA made it that much easier. Our topic was sustainability in aviation and I learned a
couple new things after researching like the policies in place for ecology, or different
fuels that were proposed and still being studied to make aviation for ecological.
4. The most memorable example of forward facing science to me is using hydrogen as a
form of fuel for motors on certain planes, because I think if this technology would be
more developed, commercialized and used in commercial flights the amount of CO2
emitted into the atmosphere would drastically decrease leading to less pollution.
5. What I can take away most from this course is how much working together in groups is
so productive when effective communication is in place. Before this class I don’t
remember working so closely together with my group members, which not only made us
closer but I think combining ideas led to greater work put out. So for my future classes I
gladly even encourage to work together with fellow students to collaborate and make
something great.
